Indian Trail NC Hosts Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall

The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall is coming to Indian Trail NC from June 14th through June 18th. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC. It was first displayed in 1984 and now moves around the country from April to November.

Indian Trail’s VFW Post 2423 is hosting the Moving Wall for the second time this year. It last came to Indian Trail in 2007. That year more than 40,000 people visited the Wall.

The Moving Wall opens to the public at 2pm on June 14, 2012. The Opening Ceremony begins at 6:30 pm that day. It includes Posting of the Colors, the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, an Invocation, and three speakers. After the speakers will come a Reading of Union County Fallen Heroes, Tolling of the Bell, and Laying of the Wreath. The Ceremony will close with a Benediction, a 3 Volley Salute, Taps and Retiring of Colors.

A Dedication Ceremony will take place at 1pm on Saturday, June 16, 2012. There will be a Remembrance Ceremony at 5pm on Sunday, June 17, 2012. The Memorial closes to the public at 2pm on Monday, June 18, 2012.

Indian Trail’s Moving Wall will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public. The Moving Wall will be located at VFW Post 2423 at 100 VFW Lane in downtown Indian Trail NC.
