Providence High School is recognized nationally and locally as one of the
best schools in North Carolina. The school is a National Blue Ribbon School as
well as a NC Honor School of Excellence with High Growth for the past four
years. Charlotte Magazine has named Providence High School the best high school
in the Charlotte region for 2009, 2010, and 2011. Providence students have the
highest average SAT scores in the region and the highest Advanced Placement
course passage rate in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg system.
Providence High School has over 2000 students in Grades 9-12. It operates on
a traditional calendar. The school opened in 1989. The campus includes a
classroom building, a technical building. a greenhouse and a gym with swimming
pool. Sports facilities include a football stadium,. a baseball stadium, tennis
courts, and practice fields. Extracurricular activities at Providence include
21 sports, arts, and 26 clubs.
