Shannamara is a golf course community located along I-485 in the
small town of Stallings NC.
Most of Shannamara’s approximately 700 homes are in Union
County but some are located in Mecklenburg County. The neighborhood’s
convenient location allows easy access to uptown Charlotte, the
amenities and shopping of South Charlotte, the University area, and the
community festivals and quaint shops of historic downtown Matthews.
The Divide Golf Course winds through the neighborhood with many opportunities
for home owners to live on the golf course or to enjoy a golf course view. The
Divide is a daily fee course so Shannamara residents may enjoy the golf course
views without paying membership dues. Other neighborhood amenities include a
newly expanded and renovated clubhouse, a swimming pool with water slide, a
wading pool, a playground and tennis courts. The Shannamara Homeowners
Association sponsors a number of activities for residents, including holiday
parties for children and adult socials, a Vintage 50+ group for seniors, and
golf and tennis teams.
Shannamara homes were built by custom and semi-custom builders from the
mid-1990s until about 2005. You can find full-brick or brick-front homes.
Interiors are upgraded with chef’s kitchens, extensive millwork, wood and tile
flooring and luxury bathrooms. The neighborhood is a great place to find ranch
homes as many of the lots are wide enough to accommodate one-level living.
Waterfront homes can be found around the privately-owned Shannamara Lake in the
center of the neighborhood. Many of the lots are wooded.
