Because Mint Hill Middle School is located on Idlewild Road, the dividing
line between Matthews NC
and Mint
Hill NC, students from both towns attend the school. Mint Hill Middle
is a grade 6 through grade 8 school on a traditional calendar. It had nearly
1300 students in the 2010-2011 school year. Average class sizes range from 24
to 26 students.
Mint Hill Middle was named a School of Distinction with High Growth in the
2010-2011 school year. It also was named a School to Watch for three years in a
row.
The school has a number of student clubs including a gardening club, science
olympiad, national junior honor society and art club. Athletics include
volleyball, golf, cheerleading, softball and football.
