Agriculture represents over 15% of Union County’s economy. The county ranks
second in poultry broiler production in North Carolina and 13th in the United
States. It ranks 4th statewide in turkey production. Union County is a leader
in crops as well, ranking 1st in wheat and 3rd in soybeans in North Carolina.
County farmers are 10th in producing ornamentals and turf in the “green
