Fall Festival Fun in Union County NC Area Towns
In the Carolinas, the first day of fall may not feel like fall. In fact, the weather may be downright hot. Could be 90 degrees!
No matter the temperature, fall is the time in the small towns around Union County NC for fall festivals. A time for carnival rides, arts and crafts, music and just meeting your friends and neighbors along downtown streets and in the small municipal parks.
The kick-off to the fall festival season is the Matthews Alive festival over Labor Day weekend. See a photo tour of Matthews Alive 2010 here.
Here are highlights of other upcoming festival events over the next month. You can sing Karaoke in Mint Hill, enter the best Dill Pickle contest in Indian Trail or “show off your Butts” at the BBQ cook-off in Waxhaw. Enjoy!

What: 25th ArtFest of Matthews
When: September 25th (10am to 5pm) and September 26th (noon to 5pm)
Where: Matthews Station Street and Village Green in downtown Matthews
Activities: Fifty fine artists and master craftsmen in a juried art show and sale
Mint Hill NC
What: 28th Annual Mint Hill Madness
When: September 24th (6-10pm), September 25th (9:30-10pm) and September 26th (10am-5pm)
Where: Downtown Mint Hill at Matthews Mint Hill Road and Lawyers Road
Activities: Carnival rides, local bands, dancing, karaoke, parade, island luau for kids, fireworks, kids beauty pageant
Stallings NC
What: Stallings Fest
When: September 25th (noon-8pm)
Where: Stallings Municipal Park
Activities: Carnival rides, giveaways, local crafts, food, local bands
Waxhaw NC
What: Autumn Treasures 2010
When: October 8th, October 9th (10am-5pm), October 10th (noon-5pm)
Where: Downtown Waxhaw
Activities: BBQ cook-off, 85 local arts and crafts vendors, food court, outdoor dining, live entertainment, Kids Zone
Lake Park NC
What: 20th Annual Fall Festival
When: October 9th (10am-10pm)
Where: Lake Park Town Center Park
Activities: Carnival rides, games, local business/craft vendors, pumpkin painting, DJ entertainment, stage performances, movie in the park
