Union County NC Schools #1 in Adequate Yearly Progress under No Child Left Behind Law
The Union County Public Schools (UCPS) ranked number one among the 15th largest districts in North Carolina in the number of schools making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) during the 2009-2010 school year. North Carolina released preliminary results for AYP on July 21st. UCPS serves all of Union County NC.

Over eighty percent or 42 out of 52 UCPS schools met AYP by achieving 100 percent of the target goals set by the No Child Left Behind Law. Three additional schools missed by only one goal and an additional six schools met at least 80% of their goals.
