Fourth of July Fun in Union County NC Small Towns

Fourth of July Fun in Union County NC Small Towns

You don’t have to drive to the city to have fun on the Fourth of July.  Enjoy this patriotic holiday at one of the hometown events in the small towns in and near Union County NC.  What are some of the things you can do to celebrate the Fourth of July this year?

  • Watch a parade.  Head over to Matthews NC, Indian Trail NC or Waxhaw NC to watch a parade or participate in a parade.  Matthews sponsors a People’s Parade on July 3rd.  Everyone is invited to join the parade with their patriotically-decorated bicycles, scooters, or wagons.  Matthews will provide materials and items for decorating.  This event starts at the Matthews Town Hall at 5:30 pm and the Parade begins at 6pm.  The parade route is from Town Hall to Stumptown Park.  Waxhaw’s Old Fashion Hometown Parade starts at 10am on July 3rd in downtown Waxhaw.  Indian Trail’s parade starts at First Citizens Bank on Indian Trail Road at 11:30am on July 3rd.
  • Enjoy a concert.  Music is a big part of Fourth of July festivities in these Union County area small towns.  The Queen City Brass Band will play patriotic music on the Mint Hill NC Town Hall lawn on July 3rd at 7:30pm.  In Indian Trail, The Village Greene Band plays from 9:30am to 11:30am on the 3rd.  Too Much Sylvia performs a free concert in Matthews’ Stumptown Park at 7pm on the 3rd.  The Red, White & Blues Music Festival kicks off at 4pm on the 3rd in downtown Waxhaw.  Monroe NC is the only town where you can celebrate this year on July 4th.  The Belk-Tonawanda Park hosts a free summer concert by Summer Daze Dance and Show Band from 7pm to 9:30pm.
  • Take a ride or enter a contest.  Monroe’s celebration includes amusement rides.  You can enjoy a giant waterslide and bounce houses in Indian Trail.  Waxhaw and Matthews will feature kids’ entertainment.  Win a prize at the watermelon eating contest in Indian Trail.
  • Watch the fireworks.  Fireworks will end the Fourth of July celebrations in Waxhaw and Monroe.  Fireworks begin at 9:30pm.
