Bridges of Mint Hill Update

Bridges of Mint Hill Site

Here are two views from the construction site for the new Bridges of Mint Hill mall.  The top photo looks at the intersection of Lawyers Road and Bain School Road in Mint Hill.  The developers of the Mall have proposed to put the mall entrance here with a traffic circle at this intersection. The view below shows completed grading.  This view looks toward I-485.

With approximately 1.3 million square feet of space, this upscale mall will change sleepy Mint Hill forever.  The 215-acre site lies adjacent to Goose Creek where the endangered heelsplitter mussel lives.  Because runoff from the site cannot endanger the mussel, 48% of the site is reserved for open space and special treatment plans for runoff are being built into the site.  The main entrance at Lawyers and Bain School roads will have restaurants and a five story hotel.  A 14-screen movie theater is planned for the back.  Another part of the site will have a fashion center.  Details of the retailers are not yet available except for a Belks Department Store.  Groundbreaking for the buildings has not yet been announced.  It's rumored that infrastructure work, such as the bridges to be built over Goose Creek, will take another two years.  So, it will be some time before we see any buildings rising on the site.  Mint Hill will be peaceful for a little longer!
